If there is no struggle there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, and it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.
Frederick Douglass understood struggle and dissent must have a purpose. In other words, he knew one does not plow without following up with planting. He understood rain must come to water the seed. We now know lightning produces chemical changes plants need and the role the ocean’s roaring waters plays to benefit our shared home is still not fully appreciated.
Betterment of Mankind
From all we know of him, Douglass always struggled for betterment of mankind. He always dissented against those who used their power to line their pockets at the expense of human dignity and opportunity.
I dare say Frederick truly believed in the rightness of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. That he worked to help all get to see the benefits of these documents speaks to his heart and his clear vision and forward-thinking actions.
At this point, I cannot imagine anyone disagrees with me. Here’s where those of a liberal mindset, radical feminists, and RINOs will disagree:
Frederick Douglass would not have liked any of those folks because they have only one purpose in their dissent: To pursue narrow ideology in order to grab power for their own person, at all costs, and no matter it hurts the vast majority.
These same folks don’t even realize they are convenient tools of those who have a deeper and more evil agenda: To gut the power of the Constitution in order to destroy the freedoms it defends. Frederick Douglass most certainly would not have approved of an evil agenda. For a man who worked to expand minds, he also would not have approved of anyone who sought to keep them narrow.
Frederick Douglass would be called a traitor today
In other words, if Frederick Douglass were alive today many liberals and radical feminsts and RINOs who are recently quoting the man and hailing him as their hero, would be beating him in the streets when he dissented against them. Traitor! they would scream because he would be working to allow people to seek what the Declaration of Independence offers:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
Liberals, radfems, and RINOs only want you to be happy according to how they define it.
That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
Liberals, radfems, and RINOs force unwilling consent and seek to destabilize then destroy the very foundation upon which the country is founded.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes;
Light and transient causes are rightly defined as anything motivated by whining political correctness.
and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
When evil becomes insufferable, one throws it off and replaces it with something that provides for future security.
Here is the next sentence in the Declaration of Independence as we should understand it today:
Such has been the patient sufferance of Conservatives; and such is now the necessity which moves them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present Liberal Government which shall include the Deep State and the Shadow Government is a history of repeated injuries and wrongful or illegal encroachment, infringement, or seizure of rights and property, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over all Citizens of the United States.
