SC Woman Found "Chained Like a Dog"

Imagine this poor woman's actual Halloween nightmare. 30-year-old Kala Brown was found this week while Spartanburg County (SC) deputies were trying to serve a warrant. They heard her "banging from inside a metal storage container." Brown was reported missing on August 31st along with her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, who has yet to be found.

Sheriff Chuck Wright described a horrific scene:

Wright said Brown was “chained inside the container like a dog.” He said Brown told investigators she had been held in the container for two months with a chain around her neck. The metal container is 30 feet long, 15 wide and 10 to 12 feet high, Wright said.

He said Brown had been fed regularly, but she was "obviously traumatized."

"It was pretty emotional, to say the least, when she was found -- especially when she was chained like a dog. She had a chain around her neck! Its only by God’s grace we found that little girl alive."

Wright said Brown told investigators that there might be four bodies on the property, but investigators have not yet confirmed that information.

"We’re trying to make sure we don’t have a serial killer on our hands," Wright said. (It) very possibly could be what we have."

Sheriff Wright also confirmed Todd Kohlhepp, the owner of the property and previously convicted and registered sex offender, had been arrested in connection with the investigation. They most likely have their man. 

More bizarre details include the mystery of what happened to the boyfriend whose car has yet to be found. He wasn't a big Facebook user, but after Kala was discovered to be missing, his profile picture changed and comments were made that were described as "uncharacteristic":

Several postings on Carver’s Facebook page said the couple was fine and they simply left. The posts appeared after the couple was reported missing. Brown’s and Carver’s families said they believe that the Facebook account has been hacked. They said the photos that the person used were posted more than a year ago, and the wording doesn’t sound like Carver.

Bizarre.
